Thundar, officially the “Sovereignty of Thun’daal”, is the amalgamation of the dwarven clans that has formed over the last two thousand or so years. Following the collapse of the Elven Super-Nation of Lxia, the continent of tharanthios entered a period the dwarves call the “dim ages” for the light of civilization grew dim, and the other races descended into barbarism and in-fighting without their old masters to keep them in check. Held together by their common religion, the desperate dwarven clans were eventually called together by a union between clan Jotir and clan Ironheart, two of the oldest clans. Clanaugh (roughly, “he who drinks first”, analogous to a noble) Jotir and his bride proposed that the dwarves unify under a standard set of laws and customs to fill the power vacuum left by the Elves. Several clans rejected the idea, but enough agreed that within a decade plans were being created for the most splendid city the world had ever, or would ever, know: Thundaar Hold. Desiring to both make a statement about dwarven engineering and craftsmanship as well as outdo all the ancient elven cities of antiquity, Thundaar Hold became both the mercantile and spiritual center of all dwarven life. Within 2 centuries, every last clan in existence had joined the Sovereignty, and ever since the light of prosperity has shined upon the dwarven people.
