Harantium is a human nation to the north of Seren across the Azuro river. It is an Ecclesiastical Oligarchy ruled by a collection of Bishops who worship a deity called the “one god”, colloquially named “Oa”. Harantium is legendarily intolerant of outsiders or heretics, and only allows traders to enter their lands as far as designated “Trade Forts”. The entire country is covered by an anti-scrying barrier of unknown design, and the ruling bishops make harsh examples of unwelcome guests in their lands. The capital of the country is the city of “Beacon” named for the perpetual light hovering above the center of the city. According to the Book of Witness (the principal holy book of Oan worship and teaching) the Beacon is the transformed form of Aua, the avatar of Oa. The beacon is visible for miles around, and can be seen as far south as Old Etrigal (though it is difficult to make out during the day).
